Recycled flooring products have become an important part of the business. We are all aware or diminishing resources and recycled flooring can help leave a smaller carbon footprint by reducing the amount of virgin materials that need to be extracted for manufacturing (and thus the amount of carbon emissions created in that raw material extraction process). Patcraft/Shaw are certainly carrying their weight to help protect those valuable natural resources for generations to come.

For more than 20 years, Patcraft (a commercial brand of Shaw Industries) has been dedicated to recycling flooring. Almost 90 percent of the products Patcraft/Shaw makes are Cradle to Cradle CertifiedTM. EcoWorx® carpet tile (the industry’s first PVC-free carpet tile and designed to be reclaimed) has transformed spaces with unique and sought-after design; desired performance; and representation of Patcraft/Shaw’s commitment to sustainability.

Once carpet is ready to be removed from the floor, it can be converted into new recycled flooring, or the ingredients can be used for other industries. If you are recycling EcoWorx®, the entire tiles are ground into small bits and extruded into pellets that become the foundation of the next generation of EcoWorx® tile. And the use cycle begins again!

 

Patcraft/Shaw’s re[TURN]® Reclamation Program Guidelines

All EcoWorx® collections come with an Environmental Guarantee – Patcraft/Shaw makes a commitment to take these products back at no cost to customers.  Patcraft/Shaw will:

  • Recycle any EcoWorx® Tile or Broadloom carpet within the United States and Canada.
    • Continental S. and Canada locations – 500 square yards or greater are eligible under the guarantee.
    • Alaska, Hawaii, S. Territories and Mexico – 5,000 square yards or greater are eligible under the guarantee.
    • All other international locations – 5,000 square yards or greater are eligible under the Shaw will pay for the transportation cost of EcoWorx Tile and broadloom material back to Georgia from any international port. (Costs incurred to transport the material from its origin to an international port are not included as part of the Environmental Guarantee.)
